All Food, Kinda!

We don't subscribe to any one diet philosophy as we know there are as many choices as there are people that make them. That being said, we do like eating food as close to it's natural state as possible as these foods are often nutrient-dense and contain fewer added chemicals and preservatives. Also, they often have a lower glycemic index, which can help regulate blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as type 2 diabetes. For men, unprocessed foods can be especially beneficial as they provide the necessary nutrients for optimal performance and recovery.

It's been proven that eating processed foods and can have severe detrimental effects on both our physical and emotional health. Processed foods are often high in added sugars, sodium, and unhealthy fats, which can contribute to the development of chronic diseases such as obesity, type 2 diabetes, and heart disease. Processed foods also tend to be low in essential nutrients. Seed oils, such as soybean, canola, and corn oil, are also commonly found in processed foods. These oils are high in omega-6 fatty acids, which can contribute to inflammation in the body when consumed in excessive amounts. This can increase the risk of chronic diseases, such as heart disease, cancer, and autoimmune disorders. Additionally, seed oils are often highly processed, which can remove beneficial nutrients and create harmful compounds.

Here's why I make the choice to eat food as close to its natural state as possible:

  • Nutritional Value: Unprocessed foods, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and lean protein sources, are often rich in essential vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. These nutrients are essential for maintaining good health and preventing chronic diseases.

  • Low in added sugars and sodium: Unprocessed foods are typically lower in added sugars and sodium than processed foods, which can help maintain healthy blood sugar levels and reduce the risk of high blood pressure and heart disease.

  • High in fiber: Unprocessed foods such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, and legumes are often high in fiber, which can help promote healthy digestion and prevent constipation.

  • Natural taste: Unprocessed foods retain their natural taste and flavors, which can be more satisfying and enjoyable to eat than processed foods with added artificial flavors and preservatives.

  • Better for the environment: Unprocessed foods are often locally sourced and produced, which can help reduce the environmental impact of transportation and packaging. Eating unprocessed foods also can promote sustainability in the food industry.
